Bringing Sexy (Music) Back

Recently, I’ve fallen back in love with sexy music. For a while, I had forgotten its place. I’m not sure when or why I fell out of listening to it, but I forgot its power. But I was taking a bunch of pole dancing classes, and I discovered three songs that make me feel like a sex goddess: Say it, by EBZ the Artist; Wake up, by Travis Scott, and Slut Me Out by NLE Choppa (below).

Goddamn! I can’t help but move my body at least a little when I hear these songs. And it got me thinking about being in the practice of listening to sexy music, just like consuming sexy visual media, as an act that reminds me I am sexual and keeps me in touch with my sexual self.

When I was driving to pole, I really wanted to feel sexy before I even arrived. I wanted the whole class to be a seminar in sexiness. To that end, I found great playlists that help bring me into feeling myself. For rock, I like this Sexy rock to Pole to by Rhiannon White. For R&B I like this Sexy Pole Play playlist by K, or this 30 minute YouTube playlist I found recently. I love how music can cause a shift inside. Whether it’s moving from anxiety to ease, or insecurity to confidence, or exhaustion to arousal, it has its place.

Shortly after I took all those pole classes, Mr. Honey and I did an intimate, couple’s photoshoot. The photographer asked if we had any sexy playlists we wanted to listen to, and I thought about offering this Tantra Sensual Massage playlist by Karin Malka that we like, but I had a feeling our photographer had something she knew would do the trick. She recommended Cleo Soul Radio. Sadly, because Spotify makes every playlist personalized, there’s no universal playlist there, but playing Cleo Soul the artist on Apple Music definitely sets a vibe.

One last note: I think sexy music matters in porn too. For example, I love the soft-core show, Co-ed Confidential (2007), in part because of the music, and even a show I found to be a wee boring (The Erotic Traveler (2007)) made great background sound for sexytime. The Director Warren Evans (also known as Shaun Costello) has a great ear for music. Afternoon Delights (1980) and My Mistress Electra (1983) each have incredible (rock) soundtracks, my guess is his other films (Pandora’s Mirror (1981), Beauty (1981) among many others) also feature great music. And with that, I leave you with a scene from My Mistress Electra with one of my favorite guitar riffs of all time. Perfect, *chef’s kiss*, to play when you want something sexy on in the background.

What’s your favorite music to set the mood? What does it set the mood for? Share it below, if you like.

Much love and kisses, 😘 Honey
